For the Love of Learning and Learners
“I have three loves, the love of learning, love of learners and the love of bringing the first two loves together.”
Norizan Samausi is a registrar at Dika College and has over 13 years of experience in the Higher Learning industry, providing her great insight and know-how on the entire operations of a higher education institution. “I have three loves, the love of learning, love of learners and the love of bringing the first two loves together,” confessed an upbeat Norizan in a recent interview.
Driven by her passion for education, Norizan has assumed a myriad of roles within the higher education sector from Programme Coordinator to Ministry Liaison Manager. She has extensive hands-on experience and is perhaps one of the few with the expertise in preparing and handling the full accreditation process for the scope of higher education programmes from certificate, diploma, degree, master’s to doctorate set by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and the Ministry of Higher Education.
At Dika College, Norizan heads the heart of the college the Registry Department. “As the registrar, I lead a team that is in charge of managing all activities related to student records and registration processes. This includes admission, enrolment and examination up until graduation,” explained Norizan. She also provides her valuable expertise in compliance and governance as per the Ministry of Higher Education requirements and all programme standards and guidelines based on good practice set by MQA.
Norizan explained, “The quality audits that we undergo requires that we fulfill a detailed and extensive checklist that conform to best practices set by the MQA, Ministry of Higher Education, and Ministry of Home Affairs (for international students). “To do this, one needs to have a clear understanding of the rules, regulations and guidelines that have been set.” She has also been instrumental in assisting with the approvals for new programmes and in securing the successful renewals for existing ones.
Not one to stop learning and pursuing her interest, Norizan aims to continue acquiring knowledge and experience in the higher education sector. When she is not working, Norizan loves to read, especially motivational books and inspirational stories and go for a run on the weekends, which helps her unpack her thoughts.
