Chief Executive CNY Message

Happy Chinese New Year

Inspire happiness today as we aspire for a joyous tomorrow

#MeeSua and #tadpoles, these remind me of Chinese New Year. Mee Sua because it is the breakfast that my mom prepares on the morning of #CNY and I am certainly looking forward to eating it this February 1st; and catching tadpoles because it reminds me of my “kampung boy” days during visits to my grandparents’ home in Pontian, Johor.

Aside from the fanfare of CNY, I’ve always seen this time of the year as a time to appreciate my parents.  Through the years, the traditions that they have impressed upon me have made me the person that I am. I hope that I can in turn pass these traditions on to my children and them to their children.

As a nation, our #traditions make us unique. On a trip to Kuala Terengganu, my birthplace, I witnessed a heartwarming scenario that made me emotional. In a kopitiam were a multitude of races, having their morning breakfast, each to their own but with total respect for each other.  I pray that we will always be mindful of and uplift practices that nurture a harmonious and united society.

#DikaCollege turns 18 this year. It is endearing that we have staff who has been with the college since its inception. No matter how long or how recent you have been with us, I am humbled by your dedication. You have been instrumental in upholding the ‘Dika family’ tradition that we are known for and so proud of. I hope that in times of challenges, we will continue to remember the purpose of our founding – inspiring a difference in the lives of children.

In this year of the Tiger, I wish for us courage to translate plans into actions and a fiery passion to navigate impactful changes for the early childhood education  sector. Let us also stay strong as we continue to battle the pandemic. We will recover; it’s just a matter of time.

Wishing everyone a Happy Chinese New Year!

Stay Safe.
