Modern societies expect at all professional persons working in service industries have a high level of interpersonal and communication skills. Special education teachers who work with children with special needs are expected to be models of such skills, demonstrating their skills in their interactions with children with special needs and parents.
There will also be a focus on using information about the latest developments in special education as vehicles for demonstrating personal and professional self-confidence and development. Students will be exposed to alternative communication systems to enable them to reach out to children with severe communication difficulties.
